Sunset Lounge at Mondrian will feature its first pop- up dining concept with the introduction of Momo Sushi Shack from late July through October. The Michelin Guide-recommended Bushwick, Brooklyn-based Japanese restaurant – known for beautifully designed sushi, extensive vegetarian and vegan options, and heirloom ingredients – will collaborate with Mondrian’s Executive Chef Dustin Atoigue to re-create its celebrated menu at the bay front location.
Originally from Guam, Chef Atoigue is no stranger to sushi. His extensive culinary experience took him to posts in Las Vegas and Puerto Rico before he arrived in South Florida where he was the executive chef at Katsuya and Hyde Beach, as well as the opening chef at HYDE Lounge in the American Airlines Arena. The upcoming pop-up however, is the event for which he is most excited.
Brooklyn residents Phillip Gilmour, Chance Johnston and Makoto Suzuki opened Momo Sushi Shack in Bushwick in 2010. The restaurant is known for its eclectic style -- reflective of the neighborhood and Bushwick residents – in addition to a clever menu of beautifully designed sushi, playful hot dishes and vegan-friendly environment. New Yorkers know that at Momo Sushi Shack you can eat fish that “woke up in Tokyo” and the restaurant has been voted the top-rated spot for sushi on Yelp.com in addition to scoring a coveted Michelin Guide recommendation.
The pop-up will be accompanied by a Japanese Whiskey Bar. The approachable menu will consist of small plates with prices ranging from $6 - $15 per plate. The destination is designed to cater to guests and locals alike with unparalleled panoramic views of the Miami Skyline.
Mondrian South Beach is located at 1100 West Ave., Miami Beach, FL 33139.
