The award-winning hotel The Setai, Miami Beach along with Executive Chef Mathias Gervais are pleased to announce Jaya, a bold new restaurant concept inspired by historical silk and ancient spice trading routes. Set to officially open on December 11, 2015, Jaya will be a celebration of culinary diversity featuring regional specialties from Southeast and Northern Asian cultures. The 200-seat restaurant and the hotel’s courtyard will serve authentic, approachable dishes, sharing-style enhanced by locally sourced products and ingredients set in an Asian environment.
Jaya, which means ‘victory’ in Sanskrit, was chosen by the team to honor of The Setai’s renowned interior designer Jaya Ibrahim and the hotel’s first decade of successful Asian-inspired hospitality. Executive Chef Mathias Gervais and Executive Sous Chef Vijayudu Veena have collaborated to create standout dishes from Thailand, Vietnam, Korea, India, China and Japan. “The menu will feature Pan-Asian cuisine with the bountiful flavors of turmeric, cardamom, ginger, cinnamon, chilies, coconut milk and tamarind,” says Chef Gervais. The menu will also present longtime Setai favorites including Peking Duck, Naan Breads, Indian Curries, Sea Bass and Dim Sums. The kitchen will incorporate many traditional culinary techniques from wok stations to tandoori ovens.
Food is a key thread in the fabric of Asian life and how people socialize, as such Jaya will follow this tradition and serve dishes in a style to be shared, in an inviting atmosphere to make for a lively and approachable dining experience. Guests will have the choice of either dining indoors or in the hotel’s serene courtyard.
Some of the new menu highlights are Egg Steam and Pork Bun Bao; Thali Platter, a traditional Indian dish filled with small pots of chicken, fish and okra; and Kimchi Fried Rice, to name a few. Complementing Jaya’s complex flavor profiles, the restaurant features an Asian focused mixology program with beer selections, Sakés as well as The Setai’s lavish Wine Cellar.
Jaya is the newest offering in The Setai’s culinary experiences, including The Grill, the hotel’s signature fine dining experience. The restaurant is an “East meets West” interpretation of a modern prime steakhouse. Jaya will be open seven days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner including Sundays for The Setai’s famed Jazz Brunch. Jaya will also be available for in-room dining options for guests staying at The Setai.
