Chef Masaharu Morimoto and Friends to Host Common Threads Cooking for Life Festival Tasting Event

Ahead of Common Thread’s Cooking for Life Festival, a host of well-known Miami based chefs were tapped to join Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto in creating an amazing tasting event at the ballroom at the Shelborne Wyndham Grand South Beach on Saturday, April 18th. 
Chefs to join Iron Chef Morimoto for the dinner party include: Angelo Elia of Casa D'Angelo; Jason Pringle of db Bistro Moderne Miami; Aaron Brooks of EDGE Steak & Bar; Todd Erickson of haVen; Misha Gomez of Misha's Cupcakes; Sam Gorenstein of My Ceviche; Craig Koketsu of Quality Meats Miami Beach; Alex Kuk & Diego Ng of Temple Street Eatery; Diego Oka of La Mar; Danny Serfer of Mignonette; and Cesar Zapata of Phuc Yea!
Wrapped in soft amber tones inside the sophisticated Morimoto South Beach, guests will enjoy Chef Morimoto favorites as well as Miami specific dishes all using locally sourced Florida ingredients to promote healthy eating. Morimoto’s friends will follow suit with their own specialties and healthy selections. Tickets for the tasting event start at $75 and VIP tickets are $125.
The Morimoto dinner event is part of the three-day weekend festival.  The weekend festival, hosted by Miami Chef Michelle Bernstein and Superintendent of Schools Alberto M. Carvalho, provides unique opportunities to celebrate healthy cooking. The Cooking for Life Festival has brought together a select group of the country’s most celebrated chefs to support the organization’s mission. On top of the Saturday evening dinner, you can also partake in hands-on cooking experiences, beach yoga and brunch.
Common Threads currently has programming in 33 schools in Miami. Through hands-on curriculum Common Threads is empowering students and families to cook healthy, working to reverse the trend of childhood obesity and related health complications. The Cooking for Life Festival will create awareness of the important work being done in schools and will raise funds to further strengthen programming in Miami and nationally.
