Did you know? Diseases from unsafe water and lack of basic sanitation kill more people
every year than all forms of violence, including war. Children are especially vulnerable,
as their bodies aren't strong enough to fight diarrhea, dysentery and other illnesses.
90% of the 30,000 deaths that occur every week from unsafe water and unhygienic
living conditions are children under five years old. Many of these diseases are
preventable. The WHO reports that over 3.6% of the global disease burden can be
prevented simply by improving water supply, sanitation, and hygiene. Today almost 700
million people lack access to clean safe drinking water around the globe.
Becoming aware of the Global Water Crisis and how WATER absolutely changes
everything , five (5) local Miamians are putting together their fifth annual Water Party
MIA in order to sponsor a water system in the community of El Hatillo, Nicaragua. In an
effort to reach their monetary goal and continue raising awareness for the Global Water
crises the group will host a grand ol’ fete in the heart of Brickell for others in Miami to
partake in their efforts to raise the monies needed to bring clean water to this
community. The minimum donation of $35 in advance will entitle each guests to
endless cocktails generously sponsored by Botran Rum, Finalandia Vodka, Herradura
Tequila, Mahou Beer and wine from the wine boutique store Afficionados Brickell; plus
delectable bites from Bulla Gastrobar & Pisco y Nasca as well as two food stations
courtesy of the culinary team at the Four Seasons. The night will include music, a silent
auction and more.
All the money collected will go directly to Global Water Brigades to benefit the Community
of El Hatillo, Nicaragua home to 336 people, 67 families currently lacking access to
clean safe water. Purchase your tickets here!
