Uvaggio Wine Bar is nestled in the heart of Downtown Coral Gables on Miracle Mile. This truly hidden Miami gem is a cozy spot that everyone who is either a Miami native, or just passing by must include in their go-to restaurant list.
Having been opened for almost two years, the two masterminds behind this wonderful wine bar concept have truly created something special here in the Gables. Not only does Craig bring in over 25 years of business experience to the table, you also have Heath who is a world-class sommelier - and we have him right in our backyard!
Last week I was given the immense opportunity to head over to Uvaggio to taste and experience dishes off of their new fall menu. Keep in mind, these guys like to keep it fresh, so you will see local soured ingredients that make the plates more Miami-like and unique.
First up, Chef Tanner presented us with a season salad. The salad was perfectly light and fresh with strawberries, avocado, pomelo, pickled red onion, topped with citrus zest goat cheese. I have to tell you that I am not really big on goat cheese, and I absolutely loved this take on a salad.
Then for the entrees, you will be able to choose from either the duck confit, handmade potato gnocchi, slow cooked brisket, or the sous vide pork cheeks. I am not here to pick favorites, but if I had to order one I would get the duck confit and not share. This plate comes with an acorn squash pureé, dandelion-sorrel salad, mustard-apple vinaigrette, and a cranberry gastrique. Absolutely exquisite. In case you were wondering, Heath paired this dish with a wine from Turkey, which I had never had before!
Something to note, you can never go wrong with anything you order here at Uvaggio. Make sure to talk to Heath so he can help you pair each delectable dish with the perfect glass of wine.
