Right after winning the People’s Choice Award at Meatopia at Food Network & Cooking Channel’s South Beach Wine & Food Festival, Quality Meats turned one! Talk about an exciting year. For the occasion, pastry Chefs Cory Colton and Trew Sterling created a giant devils food and chocolate mousse confections designed to resemble the restaurant’s most popular dish, the 64-ounce tomahawk steak.
Besides getting a slice of this delicious, show-stopping cake I also tried a few of their most popular dishes to celebrate the occasion. To start off the evening I order the Rubik’s Spritz, which actually comes with colored ice cubes like a true Rubik’s Cube!
But, let’s get serious here. Let’s talk about their meat, as this is what they are known for. Whether you are going with a group of friends, or just on a romantic date you have to order a charcuterie plate. My personal favorites are the duck bacon and the soppresata. Smokey and delicious.
A serious must have is their house-cured slab bacon, which comes with peanut butter and jalapeño jelly, studded with candied and pickled jalapeños. Quality Meats is known for this, so if you don’t order this dish then you’re missing out.
One of my favorite steaks lives here, the Tomahawk rib steak. This mouthwatering steak can be shared or easily eaten by one hungry carnivore. For sides I recommend the pan toasted crispy potatoes, broccoli and Cheetos (yes, you read that right), and the corn crème brulee.
For the grand finale, dessert. When you look at the menu you are going to want to order everything. You can if you want, but if you have to chose one go with the large format passion fruit flan. Everything about it is perfect. From the custard to the meringue it is absolutely divine.
Quality Meats Miami Beach is located at 1501 Collins Avenue with onsite parking – a rarity on South Beach. The restaurant is open for dinner on Sunday and Monday from 6PM to 11PM and from Tuesday through Saturday until midnight.
