Epicure Gourmet Market & Cafe, located on Alton Rd. just across from the start of famed Lincoln Rd., is a South Beach staple for more than 70 years now. Known for its drool-worthy pastry display and selection of prepared delicacies, the market recently underwent a renovation and refresh that brings new light to the gourmet market and new flavors to its customers in the form of a new café and cooking demonstrations!
Under the leadership of Chef Michael Love, a variety of new items have been added to the fresh options (see the new soups!) mixed in with old favorites. Guests are greeted by freshly cut flowers as they enter through the market’s newly-positioned floral department and then continue around the corner to the sweet sight of desserts, a massive antipasto bar, artisanal cheese selections, perfectly placed soup options and more. The back wall of the market is home to a store-length deli counter where friendly staff, and Chef Love himself, greet guests, serve up amazing foods and chat with you one-on-one.
We made a selection of antipasto snacks like roasted garlic, blue cheese stuffed olives and marinated octopus before heading back to the deli counter for the main attraction. We tried the Black Jasmine Rice which was sticky & sweet, the Pistachio Berry Chicken Salad which was just perfect, and the Kale Salad and spicy shrimp with broccolini.
Everything is delicious and comes portioned to exactly what you need. Whether your stopping by to bring lunch back to the office, feeding a family or just visiting to enjoy a snack at the market’s new café with tables overlooking Alton Rd., you can pick the perfect portion size!
Look out for new additions like homemade dressings and the daily production of more than 200 items including Matzoh Ball Soup, Lobster Bisque, Macaroni & Cheese, Lasagna and so much more. Also, look out for interactive cooking demonstrations being announced soon with Executive Chef Michael Love!
