"It’s all about bottling moments of pure joy." That’s what Co-Founder and Co-CEO Zia Yusuf told me one afternoon over a cup of coffee at Vice City Bean. Last year him and his partner Alex Macdonald launched their very popular Velocity App here in our hometown, Miami. And, just a year later they are now live in 5 major international cities – London, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and, of course, Miami – and they plan on expanding to 29 global cities by 2020.
So what is the Velocity App you ask? It’s an app that was designed with the intention to solve the common problems and inconveniences that diners have when they are planning a night out, and most specifically when they are traveling to an unfamiliar city. Let’s say this. I have never been to London before, so how do I know where to go when I get there? First thing I would do is upload a Facebook status on my wall and wait for the answers to roll in. “Where should I go when I visit London this summer?”
With the Velocity App I no longer need to do that. I can go into the app, search for London, and choose the category of place that I am looking for. First of all, am I looking for a bar or a café? Ok, a bar. Then I go through my options, all carefully hand selected by those over at Velocity. I can see roughly how much it’s going to cost me, and if this was more of a restaurant kind of spot I could make reservations as well. Everything in one spot and so convenient. Plus, I didn’t waste my time uploading a status on Facebook.
Essentially being Velocity diner instantly puts you in the in crowd. You are given the best restaurants to visit, the best table to sit at, only the best dishes to enjoy and you did it all without spending your precious time deciding on where to go eat that night.
Plus, did I mention you are guaranteed some Instagramable euphoric moments? It can’t get any better than that.
