American Social has come to be a Brickell staple — the ideal spot for dinner and drinks paired with a perfect view of the Miami River and city skyline. And just as the summer is starting to heat up, they have rolled out a new menu packed with seasonal light bites and shareable plates.

In an effort to transition to lighter ingredients and simpler plates, Executive Chef Christopher Palmer has created 28 sharing-style dishes to better reflect the restaurant’s social atmosphere. To best enjoy the new options, pick an outdoor spot by the river and bring your friends… You’re going to want to hang out for a while. (And don’t worry, their infamous Chicken & Waffles is still on the menu!)

The new menu is broken down by origin: Sea, Land, Garden, and Pub. Here are my recommendations for each.

Sea
Go with the Diver Scallops! These bad boys are cooked to perfection and sitting atop a bed of flavorful corn and zucchini fritters. For the full effect, make sure you fork up a bit of each to mix the flavors.

The honorable mention in this section goes to the Peekytoe Crab Toast, in part for their adorable name and in part for being an awesome and highly flavorful appetizer style plate. These will go quick!

Land
In the Land section of the menu, the Mojo Chicken Empanadas are a fun hand-held option with a nice latin kick, but it’s the Black Truffle Short Rib Melt that steals the show! The meat is braised in red wine, topped with gruyere cheese and black truffle aioli, and then squished between two perfectly toasted sour dough slices. Pair it with a seasonal Blood Orange Pale Ale for a flawless flavor combination.

Garden
You have to try the Roasted Heirloom Tomato Soup. Even if it’s 90 degrees outside, you have to try this tomato soup. Even if you don’t usually like tomato soup, you have to try this tomato soup! It’s delectably light, nearly citrusy, and pairs perfectly with a cold iced tea. Did I mention it’s topped with melted gruyere cheese? Because it is.

Pub
Here’s where you’ll find some of your trusted American Social favorites, like the Chicken and Waffles and the American Social Mac and Cheese. These plates are beloved for a reason, so you’ll still find them on the new menu!

The new menu kicked off in June, so you can try it right away. American Social’s Brickell location is open from 11:30 a.m. to 1 a.m. Sunday through Wednesday, 11:30 a.m. to 2 a.m. on Thursdays, and 11:30 a.m. to 3 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
