7 Miami Cocktails You Must Try This Summer

Let’s be real here – summer doesn't even officially “start” until June 21st, but the heat and humidity is serious out there! That is why I have decided to compile of a few of my favorite summer cocktails to give you a little refresher on these hot Miami summer days.

To kick of summer they are introducing a happy hour every day from 6-8pm in the back.  The food menu includes $2 tacos, $3 chips & guacamole, and $4 chips & salsa.  The drink menu includes $4 draft beers, $5 tequila shots, and $6 specialty cocktails.  Now there is no reason to not have Mexican every night.      

The happy hour is also the perfect time to try Bodega’s new summer cocktail menu featuring creative concoctions such as the Midnight in Paradise, Belvedere, Foro Amaro, blackberry, lemon, orange bitters; South Sider, Aviation Gin, Martini & Rossi Rosso Vermouth infused with savory spices, Campari, citrus; Islander, Bacardi Superior, Amontillado Sherry, mango, salted honey, mint; Mexican French Kiss, Maestro Dobel, St. Germain, Yellow Chartreuse, basil, agave, lime; Overnight Sensation, Old Forester Bourbon, Lillet, Absinthe, ginger snap reduction, strawberry, thyme, lemon; and Don Diablo, Illegal Joven Mezcal, passionfruit, lime, Hellfire Bitters.  There is a drink for everyone, whether guests like vodka, gin, rum, tequila, or bourbon!

These guys are celebrating National Iced Tea month in a special way. As part of their Liquid Art program, the restaurant is offering guests a refreshing Iced Tea cocktail with a bit of a kick. Panorama’s signature Iced Tea-quiller cocktail is handcrafted with 1.5 oz. tequila, iced tea, lime juice, and simple syrup.
 
As part of the celebration, guests are invited to snap a photo of their Iced Tea-quiller cocktail throughout the month of June, tagging  #LiquidArt and @sonestacgmiami. Guests can then share with their bartender to receive 50% off your first drink.

AFROHEAD Rum

For the summer months, AFROHEAD Rum has created the FroCo, a refreshing cocktail for the warm months. Stay hydrated with coconut water, get the sweetness of the sugar and let AFROHEAD keep you relaxed your entire vacation.

FroCo by Rum Ambassador Isaac Grillo 
1.5 ounces of AFROHEAD Rum 
3/4 ounces lemon juice (2 lemons)
2 pure cane brown sugar cubes
3 ounces coconut water 
Method: Shake and strain all ingredients over fresh ice in a Collins glass
Garnish with toasted coconut

Head bartender, Martin Gutierrez of the French Mediterranean restaurant has concocted four brand new libations; the Blueberry Moscow Mule, the Latin Passion, the Spicy Kiss (available during Miami Spice), and the Villa Azur which utilize crisp summery ingredients like blueberries, passion fruit, acai and strawberries and are mixed with refreshing spirits that are sure to satisfy one’s summertime thirst. From June through September, Villa Azur will be rolling out one of these summer creations per month.

We all know summer in Miami can be very hot. Makoto, located at Bal Harbour Shops, offers the perfect oasis to escape the summer heat. Here you are trying their cocktails like the Green Tea Caipiroska with fresh mint, house infused green tea Reyka Vodka, muddled lime and green tea or the Lemongrass Cooler with Bacardi Limon Rum, cilantro, lemongrass, lemon and soda.

After looking around and checking out the art and exhibitions that PAMM has to offer you head over to Verde. Here you are trying their the Passionfruit Cilantro Caipirinha (pitú, passionfruit, cilantro leaves, sugar). Totally refreshing and perfect to cool you down on a hot Miami summer day.

These guys have a program called “Cocktails With Purpose,” which features three seasonal low-calorie drinks priced under $10 at Drake’s Bar in the hotel. Well-being and sustainability are key ingredients of JW Marriott Miami food and beverage experiences.  Celebrity nutritionist and dietitian Keri Glassman is working with JW Marriott mixologists to find creative ways to meet guests’ needs for healthier cocktails. This includes fresh juices over mixes, raw honey replacing refined sugars, and so on.
