The Rum Line Punch

Last year was definitely a great one when it came to new restaurants and bars in Miami. We had new hot spots like Little Bread Cuban Sandwich Company pop up in the heart of Little Havana where we were able to eat a delicious Cuban sandwich, and then we had restaurants like Downtown Bistro where just by walking in we were transported to Paris (order the Croque Madame!).

Besides the new restaurants in Miami there were also some really awesome new bars that are definitely worth a mention or two.

Ball & Chain in Little Havana
1513 SW8th St. | Little Havana, FL

The building where Ball & Chain is was actually constructed back in the 1930s in the middle of the Depression, when construction was at a complete standstill. But in 1967 it became a furniture store until now. The bar has now return back to its glory days by serving us pastelito-infused drinks, tons a great Cuban music… oh and did I mention they have a Calle Ocho Old Fashioned, which has aged rum, demerara sugar, tobacco bitters and leaves? If you have never been this is a must!

The Rum Line on South Beach
Lowes Hotel | 1601 Collins Ave. | Miami Beach, FL

This is one of my new favorite spots in Miami Beach. When you first walk into to this magical bar you immediately notice that the furniture is full on Tiki bar status. The cocktails are off the chain. They have Lure Fishbar’s Robert Ferrara serving as the bar director, and he has put together an outrageous menu of cocktails you won’t believe. The menu is split between old school and new school cocktails. I would suggest you try the Zombie No. 305, which has Bacardi Byr, Olmeca Altos Tequila, Lemon Hart 151, Kronan Swedish Punch, Donn’s Mixx #2, Line, and Grenadine. Epic.

Drawing Room in Miami Beach
Shelborne Wyndham Grand South Beach
1801 Collins Ave. | Miami Beach, FL

I understand that you might be hesitant in checking out the Drawing Room because it’s part of a hotel, but wait until you go inside. This super cool lounge offers really crafty cocktails created by Albert Trummer. He is mixing up 10 secret herbal elixirs – like the Opium Essence and the Herbs & Oils from Ancient Italian Monasteries. He also has what he calls the Stress Reliever – the Gin & Tonic from the Market, which has Bombay Sapphire Gin, Herbal Bitterm and it’s infused with select herbs and cucumber. I’ll take two.

Vagabond Hotel Pool Bar in Mimo
7301 Biscayne Blvd. | Miami, FL

“She is The Vagabond Hotel. And she’s waiting for you. Vibrant. Creative. Fun. A newly renovated cosmopolitan mix of all things hassle-free, she’s an urban goddess who lives by her own rules. So from the minute you step into her vibey retro-luxe lobby to the moment you reluctantly say your goodbyes, be prepared for a whirlwind love affair.” Here you can now enjoy delicious cocktails like their Vagabond Collins, which has vodka, lemon and lime juices and simple syrup with Angostura bitters.

ARTCade in Miami Beach
235 12th St. | Miami Beach, FL

This place is so awesome. Imagine this. You have a craft beer or whisky in hand and you are playing a game of PAC-MAN. Yes, this is real. This new spot in Miami Beach has everything you could ever want in an arcade, except there aren’t children running around and it is totally acceptable to drink. Jackpot!

Better Days in Brickell
500 Brickell Bldg | Miami, FL

There honestly isn't a more chill bar in the area than this one. When you first walk in you immediately feel cozy and at home with the decor. The coolest part, besides getting unlimited free popcorn, is that there are games for you to play all over. My personal favorites are dominos and jenga. For those of you who like tequila I suggest you try their Cinco de Bandito cocktail, which has Casamigos Reposada Tequila, fresh lime juice, and it's topped off with salt and grapefruit soda. Perfectly light and refreshing!

Uvaggio Wine Bar in Coral Gables
70 Miracle Mile | Coral Gables, FL

This is definitely my favorite new wine bar in Miami. Right in the heart of Downtown Coral Gables, Uvaggio is a small, yet quaint wine bar that doesn't disappoint. Craig DeWald and Heath Porter (owner and managing partner) have come straight from California with a wealth of knowledge in wine. Besides having a great selection of wine they have some pretty awesome food too. Without a doubt you have to try their braised beef short rib and salt cod croquetas.
