We are entering my favorite part of the year. In October we have Halloween festivities, and then we get into Thanksgiving, and finally Christmas (my absolute favorite). But, let’s talk October for a second because it is now where we get to have a stein or three and no one will judge us. Here are a few spots in Miami I think you should check out to celebrate Oktoberfest.
Fritz & Franz Bierhaus
60 Merrick Way | Coral Gables, FL 33134
You always have to stop by here – this is a Coral Gables / Miami staple. Until October 11th you can enjoy the 21st annual Coral Gables Oktoberfest where they will be serving up brats and plenty of beer steins, alongside some pretty authentic German music. This is one you don't ever want to miss. Plus, admission is free! The party is going on the whole week from noon to midnight, and Sunday it's until 8 p.m.
German American Social Club
11919 SW 56th St. | Miami, FL 33175
For their 58th Annual Oktoberfest you will experience true German culture with dancing, food and plenty of beer. In case you didn't know, this is the largest German cultural event in all of South Florida! The event runs from October 16th until the 18th and then again October 23rd until the 25th. Keep in mind, admission is $10 for adults, $5 for kids 6-20, and free for under 6!
The Butcher Shop
165 NW 23rd St. | Miami, FL 33127
I personally love The Butcher Shop anytime of the year, but I feel some extra love during Oktoberfest time. Until October 2nd you can enjoy Bavarian food specials including homemade beer bratwurst on a pretzel stick, wiener schnitzel with fries, German pretzel with béchamel cheese sauce, and apple strudel with ice cream.
Coconut Grove’s Peacock Park
2820 Mcfarlane Rd. | Miami, FL 33133
Grovetoberfest really is a fun time. On October 17, from 3 p.m. – 7 p.m. you can sample over 300 beers, check out some cooking demos, listen to live music, and, of course, eat some delicious food. Plus, these guys also hold their annual home brew contest during the event, which is always a fun time.
New Times’ Original Beerfest
777 Isle of Capri Circle | Pompano Beach, FL 33069
The New Times’ is hosting their 18th annual Original Beerfest on October 10 from 7 p.m. – 10 p.m. You can enjoy over 100 international, local and craft beers, listen to live performances, and eat some good food. This year is a also a bit different because they are hosting their first Miss Beerfest competition, where South Florida’s female beer aficionados will have the chance to compete for the title of Miss Beerfest 2015!
